36-Inch Base Cabinet Cut List and Plywood Layout

This worked 36-inch cabinet uses one adjustable shelf so the six-part carcass fits on one sheet in the published SawNest layout. The page makes that shelf count explicit; adding a second full-width shelf changes both the buying plan and the support questions for a wide span.

One shelf keeps the sample to one purchased sheet

The six finished rectangles use 3,408.45 square inches, or 74.0% of a 48 × 96 sheet. That is a part-area ratio, not a promise that every remaining shape is reusable. The edge trim and kerf settings are included in the placement check.

36-inch base cabinet cut list

The cross-cabinet parts span 34 1/2 inches between two measured 3/4-inch sides. The shelf is intentionally smaller than that opening and the sample includes only one.

Trace the arithmetic

A wider shelf count is a design and purchasing decision.

The captured bottom span is 36 − (2 × 3/4) = 34 1/2 inches. The shelf loses another 1/8 inch across the opening and 5/8 inch front to back, producing a 34 3/8 × 21 7/8 rectangle.

A 34 3/8-inch shelf may need a thicker panel, a front stiffener, a fixed divider, or a shorter unsupported span depending on load and material. SawNest can place the rectangle; it cannot certify sag performance or cabinet joinery.

bottom span = 36 − (2 × 0.75) = 34.5 inshelf span = 34.5 − 0.125 = 34.375 infinished part area = 3,408.45 sq in = 74.0% of one sheet
Before the first cut

Four checks this layout cannot make for you

  1. Choose one shelf, two shelves, or a center divider before buying stock.
  2. Verify the unsupported shelf span for the intended load.
  3. Measure actual plywood thickness and adjust captured dimensions.
  4. Confirm back and face-frame joinery before treating this as a final cut list.
