Editorial, testing, and corrections policy
SawNest is published by Chase Ward. These are the standards used to separate reproducible planning help from unsupported claims.
Calculations and worked examples
Calculator formulas are stated on the page. Optimizer examples include the stock size, kerf, edge trim, finished parts, rotation rules, and expected result needed to reproduce the plan. Important solver cases are also kept in a public data repository.
Sources
Original calculations and SawNest test data are labeled as such. Material definitions and safety context use primary sources where practical, including government, standards, research, manufacturer, and industry-association publications. A source does not imply that its publisher endorses SawNest.
Review and updates
Pages are reviewed when a formula, fixture, source, interface, or material assumption changes. Substantive guide updates receive a visible updated date. Cosmetic edits alone do not justify presenting an old article as newly published.
Corrections
Readers can open a public correction request. A useful report includes the page URL, the disputed value, the expected result, and enough dimensions or source information to reproduce the issue. Confirmed errors are corrected on the page and added to tests when the issue can recur.
Advertising and commercial independence
SawNest may earn revenue from clearly labeled display advertising. Ads do not influence formulas, benchmark outcomes, competitor comparisons, or editorial conclusions. Paid placements will be identified; an advertisement will not be presented as an independent tool recommendation.
Limits
SawNest produces planning estimates, not engineered designs or machine-operation instructions. Readers remain responsible for verifying dimensions, material specifications, structural requirements, and safe procedures against their drawings, suppliers, and tool manufacturers.
